Welcome to the RIB Altair 112cm Campervan Bed. Bus Monkeys have been supplying RIB Beds since 2016 and are now one of the UK’s leading suppliers of RIB Altair beds for VW Transporters.

When is a bed not a bed?

When it also needs to be a seat is the answer. In a campervan conversion the requirement for comfortable rear seating is often overlooked in favor of a comfortable sleeping area. Most of the so-called Rock & Roll beds tend to have a flat surface on all sides of the cushions in order that you have a flat sleeping area. Unfortunately, this means that when it is being used as a seat, you are left with an uncomfortable flat surface to sit on with no contour or support.

With a RIB Altair 3P Campervan bed there is no need to compromise. With a choice of different widths, it can seat up to 3 people and gives a comfortable contoured seating area with integrated lift up headrests for all occupants. Its unique design then allows the cushions to flip over in seconds with the pull of a lever. This then creates a smooth flat sleeping surface allowing you to get a great night’s sleep. No other seating option on the market offers this unique design.

A Trusted Brand

All our RIB Altair beds are designed and manufactured by Scopema at their factory in France. Scopema are one of the biggest seat suppliers in Europe, supplying to the bus and coach market as well as the motorhome and campervan market and to motorsport. Scopema developed the RIB brand in 1996 and the RIB Altair campervan bed is now the first-choice campervan bed for the UK and Europe’s biggest campervan converters and coachbuilders.

Why compromise on safety?

All our RIB Altair beds come with 3-point seat belts for all occupants as standard. The RIB Altair Campervan bed is one of only a few beds available on the UK market that is fully TUV Approved and crash tested so you can be assured your rear passengers are seated safely as well as comfortably. We also offer the Isofix safety system for child seats as an optional extra. Again, RIB are one of the only UK Campervan Bed brands that offer an Isofix campervan bed.

Need extra space?

The RIB Altair bed sits high up creating ample storage space underneath. Unlike the rock and roll beds that are on the market, the rear cushion can be folded up out of the way. This creates a large boot area in the rear of your vehicle that you simply do not get with most other campervan bed systems. In addition, this rear cushion can be laid flat to create a handy parcel shelf for more storage.

You can also add the optional 200mm slider which allows the cushions to move forward and backwards on the fixed base by 200mm allowing for greater flexibility. The metal base frame stays fixed at all times so the slider option is particularly useful in long wheelbase vans as it allows you to pull the seat up closer to your table when it is deployed in your campervan.

All of our RIB Beds are made to order for your VW Transporter campervan, so you know you are getting exactly what you need. All of our RIB beds come with the following:

• 3 Point seatbelt for all occupants
• Integrated headrests
• 65cm rear cushion (creates 6ft bed when down)
• 340mm clearance for VW Transporter wheel arch
• Rear cushion cut out on passenger side (both sides for full width 150cm version)
• Standard mounting holes allow the use of most fixing kits available on the market (fitting kit not supplied as standard)
• Suitable for all UK VW Transporters from 2004 until present. (not suitable for LHD vehicles)
• Choice of VW specific fabrics to match your front seats in your VW Transporter T5, T6 or T6.1
• Some models Also available without fabric covers (Un-Upholstered) ready for you to upholster yourself.

Available in a choice of VW Fabrics. Scopema uses the exact same patterned fabric as the VW factory ensuring the patterned section of your RIB Altair bed matches your front seats.

Fabrics available for this bed are:

• Simora (VW T6 Highline
• Double Grid (VW T6.1 Startline)
• Brick (VW T6.1 Highline)
• Un-upholstered (No fabric on cushions. Will need upholstering before fitting)
